Afghanistan: Over 120 People Killed in Violence in 10 Days

attacks across Afghanistan since the start of the holy month of Ramadan on April 13.
The statistics show that 79 security members and 33 non-combatants were killed during this period.
The Ministry of Defense said that the Taliban also suffered "massive" casualties in their attacks during this period.
Watchdog organizations asked the warring parties to show restraint and stop further violence.
"There is a need for political ways for a lasting peace," said Laal Gul Laal, the head of the Human Rights Organization.
In Mohammad Agha district of Pashtun-infested Logar, residents claimed that a doctor and his son who was a recruit of police academy were killed during an operation by security forces on Thursday night.
Victims’ families called for punishment of the perpetrators.
"If actions not taken, we will go to the main road and will block it so that justice can prevail," said Adalat Abdul Rahimzai, a relative of the victim.
A source on condition of anonymity said that the two people were killed in an encounter with security forces during the operation."Casualties among civilians and military personnel are quite high," said MP Khan Agha Rezaee.
"The Taliban have not halted their destructive activities even during Ramadan and they have continued their attacks on the Afghan people," said Rohullah Ahmadzai, front man for the Ministry of Defense.
