Cyberattack Hits EU Vaccine Regulator as West Grapples with Virus Surge

vaccines said Wednesday it had been the target of a cyberattack, as Germany and other northern hemisphere countries grappled with a winter surge in the pandemic.

The attack comes after Britannia accused Kremlin-linked hackers in July of targeting labs researching coronavirus vaccines and after a U.S. newspaper reported that cybercriminals had tried to attack several pharmaceutical firms developing vaccines. They included Johnson & Johnson, Novavax, AstraZeneca and South Korean laboratories.
The EMA has said it will give a decision on conditional approval for Pfizer/BioNTech's Covid-19 vaccine at a meeting that will be held by December 29 at the latest. A ruling on Moderna's version should follow by January 12.
Canada regulator approves Pfizer’s COVID vaccine
[IsraelTimes] Canada’s health regulator on Wednesday approved Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine. Health Canada posts on its website that the vaccine made by US drugmaker Pfizer and Germany’s BioNTech is authorized.
Canada is set to receive up to 249,000 doses this month and 4 million doses of the vaccine by March. The Canadian government has purchased 20 million doses of that vaccine, which requires people to receive two doses each, and it has the option to buy 56 million more.
Health Canada is reviewing three other vaccine candidates, including one from Moderna.
Netanyahu: First vaccines will be administered on December 27
[IsraelTimes] Netanyahu, in a live statement, says: “It’s not to be taken for granted that Israel, which is… a small country with 9 million citizens should receive the vaccines at the same time as Britain and the leading countries in the world.”
“I ask all Israelis to get vaccinated,” says Netanyahu, adding that he’ll do it first.
Netanyahu says the first vaccines will be administered on December 27 and Israel will able to vaccinate 60,000 a day.
Netanyahu repeats that those vaccinated will be given privileges, such as access to malls and other sites.
