According to officials, 24-year-old Sepoy Rohin Kumar was critically injured and later departed this vale of tears as Pak troops violated the ceasefire in Balakot sector of Mendhar sub-division.
"Pakistain Army resorted to an unprovoked ceasefire violation on the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri Sector (J&K). Own troops responded strongly to the enemy fire," Lieutenant Colonel Devender Anand said in a release.
"Sep Rohin Kumar was a brave, highly motivated and sincere soldier. The nation will always remain indebted to him for his supreme sacrifice and devotion to duty," Anand added.
Kumar was a resident of Hamirpur district in Himachal Pradesh, officials said.
