France Shuts Down 3 Mosques In Crackdown
|
[HOSTED.AP.ORG] The latest on the recovery from and investigation into the Nov. 13 attacks in Gay Paree that killed 130 people. All times local:

French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve says three mosques have been shut down in La Belle France since the Gay Paree attacks as part of a crackdown on Death Eater activities.
Cazeneuve told news hounds it was the first time mosques are being closed in La Belle France "on grounds of radicalization."
One of the mosques, 35 kilometers (22 miles) east of Gay Paree in Lagny-sur-Marne, was targeted by raids early Wednesday, with police seizing a 9mm revolver, a computer hard disc and jihadist propaganda. Cazeneuve said the mosque also had a non-authorized Koranic school.
One person was placed in jug following the raids, with 22 others banned from leaving La Belle France. Nine others were put under house arrest.
The two other mosques, in Lyon and Gennevilliers in the Gay Paree region, were shut down last week amid a state of emergency.
Cazeneuve says police have seized 334 weapons since the Nov. 13 attacks that left 130 people dead in Gay Paree.

The directors of the Bataclan concert hall in Gay Paree, where two-thirds of the 130 victims of the Gay Paree attacks were killed, have said it will reopen before the end of 2016.
Jules Frutos - who has run the venue with Olivier Poubelle since 2004 - told Le Monde in an interview published Wednesday that "it's necessary to see the doors open again."
Poubelle said that "it shouldn't be turned into a mausoleum. Or a pilgrimage site."
World leaders, including Barack Obama
It’s very rare that I come to an event where I’m like the fifth- or sixth-most interesting person. ...
, have been visiting the site this week, each bringing a white rose to honor those who died in the Nov. 13 attacks.
The assets of Imam Mohammed Hammoumi, who ran the mosque and the cultural associations until he left to live in Egypt in 2014, were frozen in April.
Authorities said Wednesday the prayer room in L'Arbresle had been used by hard boyz suspected of having contacts with others in Syria.
Cazeneuve later told the French parliament that there had been 2,235 searches leading to 263 arrests since the three-month state of emergency began.
"In 15 days we have seized a third of the weapons of war we would normally recover in a year," he said.
Of the 334 firearms seized, 145 were rifles and 34 assault weapons.
Cazeneuve said 330 people "who had been under surveillance by the security services for links to radical Islam have been put under house arrest."
