Moscow Prosecutorâs Office has brought charges in absentia within the framework of the criminal case instigated into the hostage taking in Moscowâs Nord-Ost theatre, the press service of the office reported on Wednesday. Charges were brought against Shamil Basayev, Khasan Zakayev and Gerikhan Dudayev. They are charged with organizing a criminal community, organization and directing a terrorist act and hostage-taking. All three men have been put on international wanted lists. Investigators have established that in 2001-2002 Shamil Basayev planned and organized a number of terrorist acts in Moscow â like bomb blasts in public places and hostage taking. The criminal pursued a goal to apply pressure to the Russian authorities and to make the latter order to withdraw troops from Chechnya.
