Russian Perspective: Russian Defence Ministry report on the progress of the special military operation (22 April 2025)
[EngMilRu] The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue the special military operation.

In Belgorod direction, units of the Sever Group of Forces engaged formations of three mechanised brigades, one air assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and two territorial defence brigades close to Popovka, Prokhody, and Okop (Sumy region).

The AFU losses were up to 40 troops, two motor vehicles, and three field artillery guns. One electronic warfare station was eliminated.

Units of the Zapad Group of Forces took more advantageous lines and positions. Russian troops inflicted fire damage on manpower and hardware of one tank brigade, four mechanised brigades, one jaeger brigade of the AFU, and two territorial defence brigades near Kamenka, Doroshovka, Moskovka (Kharkov region), Novoye, Kirovsk, and Yampol (Donetsk People's Republic).

The AFU losses were up to 250 troops, one M113 armoured personnel carrier, one U.S.-made HMMWV armoured fighting vehicle, five motor vehicles, five field artillery guns as well as one Czech-made Vampire MLRS launcher. Two Kvertus electronic warfare stations and three ammunition depots were eliminated.

As a result of active actions, units of the Yug Group of Forces liberated Sukhaya Balka (Donetsk People's Republic).

Russian troops hit clusters of manpower and hardware of one heavy mechanised brigade, three mechanised brigades, one motorised infantry brigade of the AFU, and one territorial defence brigade close to Novoolenovka, Zarya, Ulyanovka, Vasyukovka, Novaya Poltavka, Seversk, Chasov Yar, and Yablonovka (Donetsk People's Republic).

The AFU losses were up to 300 troops, one tank, five armoured fighting vehicles, including one U.S.-made M113 armoured personnel carrier, eight motor vehicles, four artillery guns, and one Grad MLRS launcher. One electronic warfare station and one ammunition depot were neutralised.

Units of the Tsentr Group of Forces improved the situation along the front line. Russian troops launched attacks on formations of two mechanised brigades, one assault brigade, one unmanned aerial vehicle brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, one territorial defence brigade, and two National Guard brigades near Krasnoarmeysk, Mirolyubovka, Lysovka, Novonikolayevka, Bogdanovka, and Novoekonomicheskoye (Donetsk People's Republic).

The AFU losses were more than 310 troops, four armoured fighting vehicles, and three motor vehicles.

Units of the Vostok Group of Forces continued advancing into the depth of enemy defences. Russian troops delivered strikes at manpower and hardware of one mechanised brigade, one air assault brigade, one jaeger brigade, one airmobile brigade of the AFU, and one territorial defence brigade near Tolstoy, Komar (Donetsk People's Republic), Gulyaipole, and Chervonoye (Zaporozhye region).

The AFU losses were up to 170 troops, three armoured fighting vehicles, seven motor vehicles, five field artillery guns, including two NATO-made ones.

Units of the Dnepr Group of Forces engaged formations of two mechanised brigades of the AFU and three territorial defence brigades close to Novodanilovka, Kamenskoye (Zaporozhye region), Ponyatovka, and Nikolskoye (Kherson region).

The AFU losses were over 70 troops, two motor vehicles, two artillery guns, two counter-battery radars, and two ammunition depots.

Operational-Tactical Aviation, attack unmanned aerial vehicles, and Missile Troops and Artillery of the Russian Groups of Forces engaged the production site of unmanned aerial vehicles as well as temporary deployment areas of the AFU and foreign mercenaries in 141 areas.

Air defence facilities shot down three JDAM guided bombs, one U.S.-made HIMARS MLRS projectile as well as 99 fixed-wing UAVs.

In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, the AFU losses amounted to 661 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 53,034 unmanned aerial vehicles, 604 anti-aircraft missile systems, 22,985 tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles, 1,546 MLRS combat vehicles, 23,962 field artillery guns and mortars, 34,416 units of special military vehicles.

The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue the operation to neutralise AFU formations on the territory of Kursk region.

During offensive actions, units of the Sever Group of Forces inflicted fire damage on formations of one tank brigade, one mechanised brigade, one air assault brigade, and one territorial defence brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine close to Gornal.

Operational-Tactical and Army aviation, and artillery strikes engaged AFU manpower and hardware close to Belovody, Varachino, Velikaya Rybitsa, Vodolagi, Miropolye, Mogritsa, Sadki, Studenok, Yunakovka, and Yablonovka in Sumy region.

During the day, the AFU losses were more than 160 troops, one tank, one armoured fighting vehicle, 10 motor vehicles, one self-propelled artillery system, three artillery guns, one mortar, one OSA-AKM anti-aircraft missile system, one EW station as well as six UAV command posts, one ammunition depot, and one technical equipment depot. Four AFU servicemen surrendered.

Since the beginning of hostilities in Kursk direction, the AFU losses amounted to more than 75,540 troops, 412 tanks, 336 infantry fighting vehicles, 311 armoured personnel carriers, 2,283 armoured fighting vehicles, 2,759 motor vehicles, 636 self-propelled artillery systems and field artillery guns, 62 MLRS launchers, including 15 of HIMARS and seven of MLRS made by the USA, 29 anti-aircraft missile launchers, one self-propelled anti-aircraft system, ten transport-loading vehicles, 130 EW stations, 18 counter-battery warfare radars, 12 air defence radars, 57 units of engineering and other materiel, including 23 counterobstacle vehicles, one UR-77 mine clearing vehicle, five bridge launchers, one engineering reconnaissance vehicle as well as 15 armoured recovery vehicles, and one command post vehicle.

The operation to neutralise the AFU units is in progress.
