The Government shall not have a large standing military in peace time.

Hence why the 2nd amendment exists and reads....

“A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

With that said, I am sure it never envisioned an enemy with airplanes and missiles traveling at 400+ MPH. Something that would taken weeks to do at 7 to 10 miles a day back in 1776
