Given that we constantly hear the Cartels drugs
are killing 1,000's in the USA each year, and
the Mexican Gov isn't doing 💩.

#2 When the Mexican army is allowed to fight the cartels head on they wipe the floor with them, every time. Ideally a lot of this should revolve around us supporting them while they do what they want to do anyhow.

#3 Although the cartels are getting upgunned, the problem is more about corruption than the ability to fight.

A guy badanov knows (heh) used to report regularly on the cartel wars. If memory serves, the Mexican Marines used to do quite well. Supporting their operations and providing services like Predator overwatch and drone zaps would be helpful.
