#3 The rebel alliance has many components and they do not agree on policy except that they want to get rid of the Assad government and its Russian and Iranian backers.

There is a strong muslim brotherhood faction and Turkish paid mercenaries and former (and disenchanted) ISIS folk and defectors from Assad's military as well as a few more groups. I'm surprised at how effective their first offense went but then that may be because the Government side was so incompetent.
