WWI happened, and the Ottoman rule ended; and British rule began. This professor is part of the sincere movement to (1) Claim victim status, while simultaneously (2) Taking over the polity and culture of what he would define as infidel lands.

#9 The Ottomans conquered the Christian Byzantines. The Byzantines, as classical pagan Romans, had conquered the Jews. The Allies conquered the Ottomans, and gave their Hashemite Arab allies kingdoms in Trans-Jordan and Iraq as a reward, but when the brand new Hashemite king of Trans-Jordan refused to ratify the Versailles Treaty because it gave France mandatory responsibilities over Syria (including Lebanon) that he had expected to get, Britain withdrew their support for continued Hashemite rule of Mecca; within half a year the House of Saud had conquered it, and was recognized as the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Iraqi grandson, Faisal II, was executed in a coup in 1958.

The League of Nations gave Britain mandatory authority over Cis-Jordan, a.k.a. the Ottoman province of Palestine, to be held in trust for the Jews until they were ready for self-rule as part of the same document establishing the Hashemite kingdom of Trans-Jordan. The mandate required that Britain prepare the Jews for self-rule exactly as the Arabs of Syria and Lebanon were to be prepared by France for self-rule, fulfilling the British promise to the Jews for a national homeland there as made in the Balfour Declaration. A commitment for parallel Arab independent self-rule was repeatedly rejected by the Arabs, and when the Jews declared their independence in 1948, Trans-Jordan conquered the West Bank region (Cis-Jordan) and Egypt conquered the Gaza Strip. Israel incidentally freed both territories from foreign rule in the process of driving out the invading Arab armies during the Six Day War in 1967. The subsequent hope to prepare the local Arabs for self-rule has been continually disappointed, as they far prefer plotting against and murdering Jews to actually doing the work necessary to function as a self-governing nation.
