#2 In 1990, 40% of young adults had a parent who served.
In the 90's they started really pushing 'Racial Quotas' and my older brother, who did not check any of the DEI boxes, decided after four (4) boards that being a good sailor was not enough for the US Navy despite his 24+ years of good service and Vietnam Vet status. Why serve if they don't want respect your service but only your ethnicity?

The current DEI Craze is just an eventual result of promoting the 'Racial Quota' people to higher and higher levels.

#5 ...actually, the Army in the 19th Century had a high proportion of foreigners, Irish and German being among the more numerous. Male German Immigrants were sometime advised to do a hitch to learn English and have relatable work experience.
