#2 I always wondered if there was some sort of active (sonic? microwave?) anti-surveillance system that (a) combined (heterodyned) with some other US system, (b) combined with some other Soviet / Cuban active spy system, or (c) both happened to some degree?

I wonder if we will ever know...

#4 Magpie, there are articles (and some photos of odd new antennas/projectors mounted on sensitive buildings) out there regarding a new 'surveillance deterrent system' implemented around 2016.

IMO carrying around a device that is controlled by (potentially hackable) software that can clandestinely listen to you is hardly 'secure'. Faraday Cage or assume it could be listening you if you are trying to have a confidential conversation...
