#2 It's been confirmed that a Texas SWAT team went in and the hostage taker received some new ventilation holes courtesy of ballistic intervention. He has assumed room temp and below as he's probably in a cooler at the morgue. No hostages hurt.

#5 Jewish community expresses shock at FBI's statement after hostages freed from synagogue.

Soon after the FBI freed four hostages held by a gunman for 11 hours at Congregation Beth Israel in Colleyville, Texas on Saturday, Special Agent in Charge of the Dallas Field Office Matthew Desarno made a truly baffling statement.

“We do believe from our engagement with this subject that he was singularly focused on one issue and it was not specifically related to the Jewish community, but we are continuing to work to find the motive,” Desarno said

Just go visit the DFW Metroplex and see for yourself: you can't drive 500 yards in any direction around Big D or Ft Worth without hitting two or three synagogues

Family of Texas synagogue gunman condemns attack, says he had mental health issues

The Blackburn Muslim Community in Britain has confirmed that Faisal Akram, a member of the community, was the gunman who took hostages at a Texas synagogue and died during a rescue operation.

“Faisal Akram has sadly departed from this temporary world and returned to his Creator,” the community says in a Facebook post, urging the public to “let the authorities complete their investigations, have respect for the family and allow them to mourn peacefully.”

A comment on the post features a statement by Akram’s brother, who says the family is “devastated” and that “we as a family do not condone any of his actions and would like to sincerely apologize wholeheartedly to all the victims involved in the unfortunate incident.”

The brother, Gulbar, says the attacker “was suffering from mental health issues,” adding that “we were confident that he would not harm the hostages.”

He claims Akram willingly freed the hostages, saying: “Don’t believe the bull#### in the media, they were released from the fire exit and not rescued.”

“A few minutes later a firefight has taken place and he was shot and killed,” he says. “There was nothing we could have said to him or done that would have convinced him to surrender.

“We would also like to add that any attack on any human being be it a Jew, Christian or Muslim etc is wrong and should always be condemned.”

The article lists to a Facebook post on the subject that I find curious: isn’t the Islamic paradise only for those who die while committing jihad?

إِنَّا لِلَّٰهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُون
Faisal Akram has sadly departed from this temporary world and returned to his Creator. He was the son of Mohammed Malik Akram and the brother of Gulbar, Malik, Nasar, Yassar and Late Gulzameer Akram.
May the Almighty forgive all his sins and bless him with the highest ranks of Paradise. May Allah give strength and patience to his loved ones in dealing with their loss.
There are many stories circulating in the local community so please avoid taking part in the sin of backbiting. Let the authorities complete their investigations, have respect for the family and allow them to mourn peacefully. (Please check out the brother's statement in the comments section).
