Sadr dissolves own political party following withdrawal from elections

#1 In early 2020 it was noted that Sadr had drastically redefined his political stance. "Since 2003, he has gone from Shia sectarian militia leader to pro-democracy reformist and Iraqi nationalist. And in the past few months, he has given mixed signals, both supporting and criticising the protesters. The most recent incidents of Sadrist violence targeting demonstrators provoked a societal backlash, prompting Sadr to change tack once more." He tehn announced that he would disband his personal militia and allowed their actions against street protestors to be investigated. He now announces the end to the Sadrist movement. This new move is yet another surprise but hopefully allows a period of internal political peace.
