...They may have gone Western, but the Japanese as a rule do not take existential threats lightly.

My concern here over the last week or two is that the rhetoric out of the PRC has been getting progressively more overblown. It's starting to bear a disturbing resemblance from the "Down-with-EVERYBODY" rants of the 50s and 60s. They're either getting ready to pull something or they can't and they know it, and are trying to convince us to leave them alone, a classic from the dictators' handbook.

#9 China's faith in Russia is poorly placed. All countries that border China have a healthy dislike of China. Border disputes with all. Currently China has several serious problems to deal with internally. Talk is cheap and China's talk is very cheap.
