#5 Many others were not so naive. The first air raid sirens went off in Cairo at approximately 9:10AM. It could be said that by then the war was over. People in Cairo knew that the military airports at Cairo, Helwan, Alexandria, Mersa Matruh had already been bombed and by day's close it was obvious that the Egyptian air force had been destroyed on the ground. In essence, and in fact, the war was over.

#7 By 1966 the Egyptian army, some 55,000 strong, was getting its arse kicked in Yemen. The Arab Socialist Union did everything in its power to disguise the ineptitude of the Egyptian military. However, the wise-guys knew (as did the Israelis) that Nasser's Napoleion, Field Marshall Amr, was a drug addict and an inept field leader.
