#1 Personally, I liked Khaddafy better, but he was a self made man. The terror apparatus that maintains the country was long in place and an inheritance when Kim was born.

Ideology notwithstanding, you have to keep in mind he did not ask for any of this and there is no simple exit. Standing one's uncle in front of a quad 12.7 gets big headlines but it also requires lots of henchmen.

There is no way on earth he can throw open the gates and just say let's be friends. Somebody is going to pay and his henchmen know it very well. The North Korean version of musical chairs with some Tim Burton thrown in for fun.
