#1 ...I was around when DOD decided that they needed to take CFCs out of nuclear warheads so as to avoid damage to the ozone layer.

#2 I had to replace my 20 year old furnace this spring and junked the air conditioner at the same time -- the coolant couldn't even be imported into the US since two years ago, much less manufactured here. Modern times, modern problems.

#3 Actually I'm still wondering what happened to the "global cooling" (1970s) and "acid rain" (1980s) panics. They both predate the "hole in the ozone layer" panic.

And "experts" wonder why we are skeptical.

The political hay and General Panic was no longer profitable.

Like the Amazon ~~JUNGLE~~ Forest issue.
Once we started asking Hollywood to put their $$$$$$ where their Mouths said and pointing out a few 100,000 ~~Jungle~~ Forest acres would only cost 5% to 10% of their normal take from a movie. They suddenly got quite and started another panic for media attention.
