#1 Although Rep Waters remarks actually approached the inciting a riot level, Gov (of Minnesota) Waltz made prejudicial remarks this afternoon also.

So did Mayor Frey (of Minneapolis).

So did a dozen CNN folks.

The judge should canvass the jury and if they have heard this stuff, it should be a mistrial.

If we learn later that they heard this, a District court should overturn it.

#3 As previously reported by Fox News, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said on Monday that she did not believe Waters needed to apologize for her comments. She also said she did not think they would incite violence as local communities deal with intensifying protests.

So what were the articles of the second impeachment there Nancy?

#4 And the narrative frame is set. If Chauvin is acquitted (unlikely) or wins on appeal later (more likely) the leftist race-baiters will simply say "See, they twisted our words to suit their rayciss, white-supremacist goals! Waaaaaah!"

#11 If the jurors are aware of the judge's comment it could help them rationalize a 'guilty' verdict, since they could figure it would be overturned on appeal anyway.

#12 The Minn State Tribune is set to dox the jurors, and their article was released, after deliberations started for maximum pressure. This is criminal jury tampering or intimidation!

#13 What LG said at #1. Seems like a very reasonable legal approach. However, we are not living in reasonable and legal times but well-stated nonetheless.

#14 Cahill might be a liberal but he doesn't like members of the legislative branch stepping on his robes.

But then, this might be his biggest concern,

Cahill denied Nelson's motion for a mistrial but said that Waters’s weekend remarks could give the defense “something on appeal that may result in this whole trial being overturned.”

One big Orwellian word game. If you screw up the language badly enough, people won't be able to think straight. That's OK. They'll tell us what to think.

#17 ^ Just like the jurors, he can be expected to have the entirely reasonable fear of reprisals by "activists". But I think he'd be happy to see Chauvin go away.

#30 you are going to start hearing from CNN etc. that the threatened riots couldn't influence the jury because they were sequestered

They were not sequestered except while in the jury room (maybe not even then if they were allowed cell phones).

The jury was told not to watch the news but even if they had been watching sports say, news announcements would have broken through.
