#2 Whoa! From a 1st World Nation to a ? world nation in one weather event. 2/3rds of the US plunged into cold darkness; this nation needs a dialog on secure, sane energy production quick.

(Reader/poster shakes his head, really slow; may God bless those who have suffered, may a quick recovery be yours. Amen)

#4 If nothing else, I would hope that all this misery causes greenies to reconsider the idea that electricity comes from wall sockets. But that's a big ask.

#6 The fundamental problem is the 30% construction tax credit and 2.5 cents/kWh federal subsidy for an unreliable power source that distorts the electricity market. After subsidies, when a customer can get nearly free electricity, that unreliable source will take over the grid's generation capacity.

Then comes a very predictable disturbance that knocks out much of the electric generating capacity and you have a grid disaster.

#7 Read the week before the storm, wind turbines were generating >40% of Texas electricity. During and after the storm <10%.
