#1 The pipeline has been attacked numerous times over the last twenty years. Egyptian gas supplies to Jordan and Israel were often interrupted. The fact that Egypt could not be counted on for a continuous and dependable source of power led to the exploration and discovery of gas fields in the Med. Israel is now self sufficient.
