Deep down inside most "liberals" admire the hard left as being more "authentic" and badass than they are.

That's why it's always dangerous to put even "soft liberals" in charge of anything.

At minimum, they will indulge the hard left and allow it to metastasize. At worst, they'll provide active assistance. Just look at Portland's mayor.
