Which is irrelevant, they certainly aren't a controlled economy with 5 years plans that make stuff no one wants except weapons like Soviet Union.

#3 Totalitarians. The details don’t matter, just the fact that totalitarian states are too brittle to survive black swan events, or even the accumulation of white swans — and there always is an accumulation of white swans followed by the unknown unknowns that are black swans.

“Communist state” is shorthand for the entirely of the above.
