The gov't has all the money borrowed up and has destroyed the banking industry. Much like everything else the gov't touches, it turns to kak.

#5 When money is 'on call' from the Fed, why would they bother with thousands of depositors for capital? The purpose of the Fed was to mitigate the 'crashes' of the 19th Century only to see them preside over two Depressions of which they largely contributed. Sort of like the CDC was suppose to work in mitigating pan-epidemics not fumble the entire process.

#7 DB is a vehicle to loan money to german business and pretend the Euro is not destroying the german economy as well.

I'd say it was probably underwater and is purely a government led institution now (although lots of banks are).

#9 They were into Fanny Mae and Freddie Mae when the market collapsed. Hey, that's where the unreal return on investment was compared to Euro ventures. There was no legal obligation on the part of the government to bail any investors out. Bush & Co did just that at everyone's expense because, among others, the Euro banks would have failed.
