#1 The teachers union should be taken down before this is over.
They are similar to the police union in that they allow bad teachers to continue screwing up kids. I'm glad they've put their necks on the guillotine and hope Trump pulls the cord.

#3 If you come at the teacher's union, you best not miss.

Growing up in the Detroit 'burbs, teacher strikes were a regular thing. I liked it, meant you didn't have to go to school.

Funny thing though, public employ strikes are illegal in MI. But no judge would dare sign the back to work order because at election time, you were toast. Not just the teachers, but the teamsters, the UAW, AFSCME and all their union buddies would be voting against you, now and forever more, amen. Go ahead, sign the order. I double dog dare ya!

<#insert gratuitous plug for the Khan Academy>
It's an invaluable resource if you are home schooling or if your kid is being stifled by public school. It will expand their world.

#4 It's difficult to read this shit and not get the impression that this 'teachers' union' does not give a rat's ass about teachers or students.

#5 ^Half right. They don't give a shit about students.

#6 The state is sovereign. Teacher unions are not. There can never be 'equal' bartering. The illegal strikes are and were demonstrations of the surrender of those entrusted with the power and authority of the people. When the civil war gets rolling, how many are prepared to "die on that hill". A lot of 'power' is going to be sorted out rather quickly.

#7 And a lot of School Boards (you know, the ones that make the policies and appropriate the tax dollars) are controlled by a majority of teachers elected to them.

#8 Khan Academy is great. the cynic in me thinks, as with all good things, that it will eventually be infested with leftist BS. but for now it looks to be free and clear.

#9 ^Bob, the beauty of Khan's is that it's a very easy (and cheap) model to replicate. If they start playing games ...

#11 Bad enough they are whiteboards. They also have white debbil knowledge written on them (sometimes).

#14 Sounds like a strike to me but the article doesn't say anything about a strike vote. My understanding is that the members have to vote for a strike. Could this be a case of the union's communist leaders getting the cart before the horse?

#16 Bill and Melinda Gates, Bank of America were two red flags for me with Khan unless y'all think otherwise.

Still gotta be better than this.

*when the Dims wanted to take a shot at Governor Brownback, they used the teacher's union. And won. Brownback resigned early, Kobach got tied to him, and now we have some 5' tall cat collector who would be lock-step with the Call of Michigan except her OODA is closer to ADA and can't keep up.

#18 #17 Since we had dozens of school centered CV19 outbreaks in Israel, I'm forced to conclude that the cited article (like all anti-locker/anti-masker "science") is a piece of shit.

#20 ^Thank you Frank. I know it's hard to give up the belief that it's all a bad dream and things will soon return to normal. But it's the mature thing to do.

#22 Wasn't sarcasm Frank. I was genuinely happy for you. It's hard to see an old acquaintance chose blind belief over facts.

#23 I don't - Covid/WuFlu is a problem, but not a society-ending one. Shutting down the economy is both and I refuse to believe politicized science. It will likely ease up November 4th
Posted by Frank G 2020-07-12 17:20||   2020-07-12 17:20|| Front Page Top

#24 Never said it was society ending. On the other hand, you can't pretend that it's nothing. Incidentally, you think I invented school-based outbreaks?

p.s. To me "Lock-downs destroy the economy", "There is a 1000 asymptomatic infected for every one hospitalized - so we'll soon have herd immunity", "There is no asymptomatic transmission", "Virus only affects old people with underlying conditions", and "Gender is fluid" are all the same.
