Very likely no "mystery" with regard to his not being armed, making him easy prey.

#3 /\ I can remember years ago, an "arming memo" (authorization for US civilian contractor to carry a weapon) had to go up to a Brigadier General and a legal review in Baghdad prior to his (the General's) signature. Perhaps things have been streamlined a bit.

I never had any contact with arming memos in AFG. I suspect the procedure may have been similar.

Obviously he didn't take security seriously, with a photo like that on his resume. It was all a joke to him. Now good men are putting their lives in danger to rescue his worthless ass.

#7 /\ The circumstances of the 'snatch' have not been released but you may have a valid point. That tan colored piece of gear behind him appears to be TROJAN coms system.... hence the sign, duhhh.

Taking 'happy snaps' in a combat theater is generally not a good idea.

Once again, the key to the benefit program is not getting policed up by the hostiles.
