#1 Question - any of you in on this? I'm giving it some thought but just a tad concerned about some backdoor getting installed; I wouldn't put it past anybody.

#2 Can't do it. I live so far out in the boonies that even the country station doesn't reach. Means my ISP options are limited and have to settle for a metered connection.
Maybe when Starlink is up and running?

#4 Ran SETI@home for years and years. Whenever I upgrade a machine, the old one got loaded up and we went looking for ALIENS! No problems.

More recently I moved to Linux and run these things in a sandboxed VM that I can easily shutdown, scrub and recover.

#5 Skid what flavor of Linux are you running?

#6 I was tempted for a moment, but I don't trust anybody. So, no.

#7 They just shut down seti@home, which I have run for years in the winter. During the winter in my state the electricity rates are very low, so heating the house with the electric furnace or my GPU is the same.

I'll try this out and let you know how it goes. I doubt my 660ti will add much to the compute power, but if hackers wack this old computer there is not much harm done.
