#1 A better idea is to use the crisis to reform some of the dietary habits. Just start with the idea "if nobody else in the world eats this perhaps we shoudn't..." and work from there.

Once you've stopped eating bats and birds nests you can move on to things they only eat in third world hell holes and start distancing from them as well.

#2 I don't have a problem with eating these alternate protein sources, as long as they don't put MSG on it.
