#3 Nothing heard lately about the 'sleeping jail guards' that were said to have been arrested. Are the guards still among the living, or have the potential assassins been assassinated ?

A botched job possibly? Jeffrey wasn't hungry and didn't eat his mid-rats laced with zolpidem tartrate. He was wide awake and violently protested his scheduled, jail cell hanging ?

#5 How would hanging vs garroting be different?

I would think there would be lots of 'types' of hangings that might produce different effects. It could have been a nice gentle suffocation or a two foot drop and snap, or some combo.

When hanging, one struggles against gravity.
That sucks.
