#1 War - I don't think people understand what the word really means. See - war on poverty, war on drugs, war on cancer.....

It's become like so many other words (racism, Nazi) detached from it old meanings. Just an expletive to show passion.

#2 The problem with Steyn's post is that he lumps the west in together as if the US is responsible for French territory. yes the US has botchd the war on terror in many ways but failing to defend France is not one of them. That's the French's job and they are a first world western industrialized nation fully capable of doing so if they so desire.
