#1 Kerala is a catholic-islamist stronghold, fed by money from the UAE and protected by fiercely communist state governments since independence. The center will now attempt to take it from them. The result will be unfortunate for some catholic institutions and genuine people engaged in social work. The key here is replacing the communal identity, goon politics with themes of 'Indian-ness' and adherence to law. An uphill battle. But if we can suppress the islamic influence, we have a chance.
