Silly me, I would orbit the BFR on Phobos with a 'survey mission' as it circles Mars so fast. Use a smaller 'taxi' up and down for visiting interesting planet sites and to refuel the BFR.

More legs increase logistic complexity but generally offer fewer cascading catastrophic failures.

#2 Or Diemos. Do tests on fuel extcaction. There is some uncertainty about the moons origins. They are either the product of a large impact that ejected a large volume of material into Martian orbit or captured C or D type asteriods. Plus I don't think they can do it in six years. The vehicle maybe. It's the life support that is the major issue.
