#2 Procopius, I'm sure you realize this wouldn't be the first time for a joint US-Japan fighter development.

Hell, I was PM for a software effort that went into the F15-J - and that was 30 years ago.

#4 That's around the time the US plans to have PCA operational. So japan will will be stuck with a low production rate 30 year old airframe with a 20 year old avionics architecture. Sounds like a boondoggle.

Better to join the PCA effort and get a piece of the next generation.

So? What Next-Generation fighter Research Program (many, many $'s) is Lockheed wanting to sell to the Pentagon?
