in 2015, there were about 470 homicides in Chicago

the Laquan McDonald shooting which led to BLM protests was in Nov 2015

in 2016, there were about 770 homicides in Chicago
in 2017, about 650
in 2018, on a pace to have about 550

too many but it is progress
