#1 Bravo! Great bit - although I've come closer to putting my eye out with a bb gun than an AR-15 - I guarantee you that!

#2 Be careful as BB guns are gateway weapons. Next thing you know you are buying 38 specials before you get out of high school.

#3 Rantburg is like a big family, and like big families we grew up in somewhat similar paths. Do you remember when you crossed the line? Sure you do, regular Daisy carrying kid one day, then Bday and Holy Moley Red Foley! It's a damn Crosman! C02 at that. Wymins went out of my hed for a fortnight as did Ada and Nabokov, it was a life changing experience, rivaled only by Becky.

#4 A long time ago kids brought firearms to school in the trunks of their cars. They used them for hunting before and after school. No one ever got one out of the trunk in a fit of anger or to settle an argument. They respected the firearm as well as others. Often high schools/middle schools had rifle clubs where students learned firearm safety and shooting skills. These are different times.

#5 When we were kids my older brother shot me in the leg with a bb gun. I cried and demanded that he let me shoot him. There were other kids standing around and it was a very dramatic scene. He had to be fair so he handed me the bb gun and stood there smiling while I took a shot. But he was wearing a pair of heavy khaki pants and the bb bounced right off of them. He laughed at me, the jerk. I've never gotten over it. sniff

#6 JohnQC, in the 1930's, my dad and his buddy took their hunting rifles into the classroom. They then placed them in the closet, and took them out at the end of the day and went hunting. I doubt they were the only ones.
