#1 Sure as hell they don't line up with Sirius.

#2 So the moss grows on the north side of the tree and the dog pees on either the west or east ( lifted leg dependent)so does that mean only the south side is OK to rest against....

#3 A view, after the dog has relieved himself, and is alined with the Earth's Magnetic Field

#4 ...sounds like you are going to need you "Lucky Coin" to interpret the observation...

#5 Pretty fair ballistics. Perhaps I'm holding my tail wrong.

#6 Examination of 70 dogs over two years – including 1,893 defecations and 5,582 urinations – revealed that dogs who were not leashed or influenced in movement were naturally inclined to relieve themselves in “axial orientation” with the earth’s magnetic field.

Which is in contrast to the excessively overcompensated canine behavioral researchers, who exhibited an innate and profound instinctual propensity for habitually and incessantly urinating into the prevailing direction of the wind.

#7 Funny but I thought dogs pi$$ed and $hit where other animals and dogs already have. Have had a lot of dogs and pretty certain they don't get lined up magnetically. I'll check with my expert, dog Gertrude and get back with you.

#8 I just glanced at the paper, and didn't check all that statistical params that might suggest B.S or not. However, perhaps it is the dog turds and not the doggies that align themselves with the geomagnetic field. Then, in the same way that it is easier to ride a horse in the direction it's going, perhaps it is easier to pinch a geomagnetic loaf when aligned with the field.

You could check this hypothesis by collecting a large number of dog turds and suspend them from a thread, looking for magnetic alignment.
