#1 The Libyan government has formed a special taskforce of quick responding units to locate, isolate and "deal with" the militias.

The Revolutionaries are jumping on the bandwagon, jointing the border patrol, the state and local police and the army. The militias are jihadists and opposed to a democratic Libya.

The rapid respond units are taking down a number of militias in Tripoli each night. Some go quietly but like Tuesday night, force is required for the more fanatical. Many of the militias are mercenaries hired by Qaddafi or third country nationals attracted by the jihad. The Libyans as a group do not want Sharia, they want an American style of democracy.

As an aside, from what I am able to put together here in Tripoli, the US activities during the revolt were much greater than reported in the MSM. Somewhere in all of this is the MSM trying to keep the narrative alive by not publishing anything about what the US forces were doing in Libya. There are a number of wrecked Qaddafi facilities in the center of Tripoli that could only have been hit with the assistance of SO forces on the ground painting them with lasers. They hit a communications site next to a mosque, scoring a direct hit on the antenna array and didn't even scorch the paint on the mosque.

I'm glad to know that about Tripoli, Bill C., but what about Benghazi? My impression is that the latter is much more tribal, religious, and uninterested in modern innovations like democracy and equality under the law for others.

Considering it was the Soviets and their Pact that influenced a post colonial/post monarchical Libya, it really should not be all that surprising.
