#1 There were post-incident allegations, still unconfirmed, that Russia, not Syria = Baby Assad, actually brought down the Turkish RF-4 vee either Syrian land-based AD Missles, or else Russian Navy Missles, ostensibly under the fear that elite Russian SPECOPS would be detected or identified aboard their Tartarus-bound naval flotilla???

#2 i guess one key question is ... exactly what was the surveillance target of this RF-4 from Turkey? the answer to that question would tell a lot ... esp. if Russian electronic equipment was being monitored.

#3 I find it difficult to believe the pilots were ever captured.

Russian advisers were likely on hand if not operating the controls in the Syrian SAM battery. To help obscure this fact, the Syrians put out a video claiming that an AAA battery shot down the plane. (Remember the video?) This also served to bolster the Syrian claim that the RF-4 was violating Syrian airspace.

Last week the Turks confirmed that the RF-4 was shot down by a missile, not a shell. Now al-Arabiya publishes a report, based on Syrian opposition-supplied documents. This is a formula for mischief. The initial Syrian claims have already been undermined, but they will be reluctant to comment on this matter any further. Especially out-of-bounds will be any comment about Russian advisors. So this report, while almost certainly untrue, is a nice way of pinning the Syrian government using its own propaganda.
