#3 The women have an easy, traditional means of stopping this crap. If they can identify any of those responsible, or importantly, somebody *like* them, they can tell their male relatives that they did a blood-feud quality abuse of *leering* at their genitals.

Importantly, didn't rape or have sex with them, which would put the woman at risk from her kin; but leering is good enough to ruin their "family honor".

After a handful of soldiers get knifed to death by irate men, who when dragged into court claim a Sharia defense, the army would quit doing that crap instantly.

#4 The idea of turning sexual shaming and tribalism against the Egyptian government is fun to contemplate. Unfortunately, women who come from families like that wouldn't be at the Square protesting, lest they be beaten or worse by their male relatives.

Gloria Allred and the rest would already be in the streets if this were some Catholic dictatorship or other.

How come the Muslims seem to get a free pass from the liberal feminists in the west? There are more horrific things done to women every day in the name of Islam that could even be imagined in the US.

Talk about selective outrage?

I still don't understand why the left, being so anti-religous, seem to want to cozy up to Islam? Is it because they don't think it is really a religion?

The left has a huge investment in the

Men/white/Juedo-Christians = exploiters
Women/non-whites/non-JudeoChristians = exploited

For them to see exceptions to this is to see that the dichotomy never was valid in the first place and that, their whole world view was flawed. That's almost as difficult as getting a moslem to see that Islam is their enslavement, not their savior. Yes, some leftists eventually break their mental bonds as do some moslems but it takes a great deal to do it.
