#7 More likely it'll be small attack craft, minisubs, mine laying (farther up the straits) and other non-conventional warfare tactics.

It'll be... interesting... to see what happens.

#9 China has begun deploying "dual-use" giant drilling platforms = rigs in the SCS capable of being quickly armed wid LR RECCE + TACMISSLE SYS, fka in Euro during WW2 as "SEA/CHANNEL FORTS".

Dare Iran in the PG be as serious as China in the SCS???

IOW, Russia + by extens CAR [Central Asia Region] Routes are still a QUESTION MARK AS RUSSIA WON'T CONFIRM OR DENY THAT IT WILL CLOSE THE ROUTES.

In sum, IMO any de facto Iran-led closure of the Straits of Hormuz only makes the Overland = Russia + CAR Routes more important to the US-NATO efforts in Afghanistan be it pre-2014 or post-2014. Also read, BAD FOR THE UNDER-THREAT-OF-NEW-RECESSION-OR-DEPRESSION-IN-2012 USA.
