#3 ..of course there will be some other competitors in the environment who weren't there before and haven't had years of their followers being butchered and reduced in significant numbers. Who also won't have an ethical problem crossing that imaginary border to payback those who visit pain and suffering on them.

#4 I wonder what effect it would have on Islam if say, a particularly dirty 50Kt nuclear device was emplaced say, 1/8th mile beneath Mecca. This would easily include the entire city in the "melt zone" of the detonation, leaving a very deep hole and very contaminated area surrounding it.

#5 Not as much effect as a similar device placed in NY or DC would have on this country.

Mecca's important symbolically, but Allah is held to be strictly transcendent. If anything, we would see more distributed attacks on the homeland than we are anywhere near able either to intercept or survive well.
