#1 That'll make a difference. The PA has its employees on half pay already, because international donors haven't been honoring their pledges -- how are they going to pay to find furnish, and staff an embassy?

#2 Honestly, I'm not sure why they haven't recognized a Palestinian state these last fifteen years or so. Is this some sort of diplomatic finger-sandwiches-and-cocktails ritual which I, mere knuckle-dragging hillbilly ignoramus that I am, can't be expected to understand? Has the Syrian foreign ministry been trading off non-recognition for the occasional opportunity to make faces at the Israeli diplomats over the Golan or something like that?
