#3 Something tells me the MSM's hoping to select Ogabe's opponent for Nov. '12. Herman Cain handily won the SC Republican debate according to Frank Luntz' focus...and ever since then seems to be on the receiving end of an orchestrated strategy to strangle his campaign in the cradle by refusing to even mention it.

#4 JQC:

Here's my take:

- Prefer governors. Legislators don't generally do well in presidential elections.

That takes out Bachman, Newt, Paul and Santorum

- Should be able to carry their home state. Basically, they should have a built in constituency, and ideally it would be the people who know them best. Even better, it should be a state that would otherwise be in play.

That takes out Romney and Santorum

- Avoid the Democrat-lite. Real Democrat always beats Democrat-lite.

That takes out Huntsman.

Who does that leave?

Johnson - Looking like an also-ran.

Palin - Love her, but the Dem Attack Machine has left her maimed.

Daniels - We'd win Indiana anyway, and he's weak on some issues (e.g. judges), but generally a strong candidate.

Pawlenty - Once endorsed Cap & Trade, like just about every other candidate, but unlike all the others he has recanted. Has a solid record of fiscal conservatism and taking on the Dems and unions, and MN would be a great pick up. Won re-election in MN in 2006, a year when most Pubs were getting slaughtered.

Cain - Inspiring speaker, fresh face, solid conservative credentials. Downsides are no money and never been elected to public office. The money part is easy to fix.

I personally like Cain and Pawlenty, and could live with Daniels. If I left someone out, they don't matter anyway. Also, when reading the news coverage of these guys, remember that it's written by people who want us to LOSE.
