To be fair, explosives have been the weapon of choice for anarchists, revolutionaries, terrorists, et al, for centuries.

Unlike firearms, components are reasonably available and generally can be purchased or stolen. More 'bang for the buck' in terms of casualties and publicity generated.

Unlike, say, Bill Ayres and his ilk, muslims go up with their explosives, either by design or, more likely, through carelessness.
