#1 Potent symbol of power: at one time Crown Vics were the most expensive cars allowed in northern Mexico - Mercedes etc. were thought to rouse the ire of the campesinos. Crown Vics are often the car of choice for high ranking police officials. One day (a few years ago) I viewed this impressive sight: a beautiful blond in a white Crown Vic - her husbands's (?) Federal Police Officer's dress cap in the rear window ledge for all to see. Displayed power in Mexico is quite different than here in the USA.
