#3 They could also channel funds from Australia. We have that many irishmen over here filling the skills shortage in the trades. If they can hold a paintbrush or call themselves a carpenter or builder, they are over here earning A$100K + salaries

I was a Union Carpenter and Pile Driver/Diver for years and I never saw anywhere near that. And I worked my arse off. Most of the new union members are latino now days, at least on East/West coast. The older guys are primarily white, but in the building trades you have to toe the line for union scale and those that don't put out don't work real regular.
