#1 One of the many facets of Jihad.

#2 I don't care about spreading Christianity to Indonesia. I also don't want a bunch of islamists trying to shove islam down my throat here in America. They need to get over thinking they are the ONE religion in the world that everyone is supposed to adopt at risk of death if they don't.

#3 May take a few thousand years John. The ONE religionista crowd appear to be tribal-cyclical. No offense intended, but I might offer the Via della Rosa as early evidence.

#4 Now an Indonesian theologian wants to travel to Europe to persuade the local Muslims to adopt Indonesia's more tolerant version of Islam. (See VOA article here.)

#5 Vigilantes vow to stop 'Christianization' of Indonesia

And after they have the religion beaten down, with only one survivor left, then they will be more pluralistic and tolerant.

#6 Shit. I clicked on the bar to preview my comment and it disappeared. Having some trouble since switchhing to Bing.

Besoeker: I am not offended by your comment I just don't understand the context. Via della Rosa could be taken literally and refer to the street on which Jesus traveled. Or it could refer to the suffering of Jesus along this path. Perhaps this refers to the obligation of Christians to spread the good word.

Just a comment. I traveled along this path sometime ago in Jerusalem. I can recall hearing gunfire over on the Paleostinian side--not far away. Could have been a wedding or a funeral or gun sex or plinking away at Israelis. This street is also not far from the Temple Mount (islamic holy site) and the Jewish Wailing wall down below. Every now and again the islamics get p!ssed about something and throw rocks down on the Jews worshipping below. During the same time, one or two tourists were killed on the beach in Tel Aviv from bombs being buried along the beach by Libyans who came up on the beach at night in rubber rafts. The islamists are always pushing against Israel. They don't want Israel to exist. Period. They (muslims) feel like this is their land (Israel) and they are unwilling to co-exist peacefully.

TW. There are more moderate muslims? Imam Rauf was supposed to be a bridge builder but it turns out he is a sharia law advocate. How does one cull out the moderates (sheep) from the muslims who are pushing sharia law (wolves)? Sharia law is not compatible with our culture or our Constitution. Indeed, it appears to be subversive and a danger to our way of life. These islamists muslims take our Constitution and its freedoms and use it against us.

#7 An example of intolerence and 'group think' John. Possibly a poor one at that.

#8 My apologies, JohnQC. I forgot to add "/sarcasm" at the end of my comment. Yes, there are more moderate Muslims, even Muslims who are comfortable living in Jewish Israel or in post-Enlightenment cultures. A few of them even speak up against those who fight (whether by the sword or by the law) to spread submission to Sharia. However, based on the article above, I'm not sure that Islam the Indonesian theologian in my article is proposing is going to be a more comfortable fit with Europe's native culture than is the current version there extant.
