#1 ...Add to that something that popped up during both Desert Shield/Storm and OIF: the 'fact' that under Saddam Hussein's rule, Iraq supposedly had the highest literacy rate in the Middle East. There's also one more clue in the article - the offical Iraqi figures 'coincide' with UN numbers. I call shenanigans.

#3 I would like to know how Iraqi illiteracy is defined: below a certain grade level, or analphabet

Literacy is more than likely guaged by your ability to memorize sections of the Koran. Or something along those lines, they cant even think outide those terms.
