#1 The usual MO/scenario. Kidnap a hostage from the West (usually someone who wanders to that part of the world thinking they can convert the heathens or achieve peace), make noises about spying, have a mock trial, sentence the individual to a long jail term for spying, get lots of publicity, make humanitarian-like noises, ask for plenty of boodle, toy with the individual some more to try to extract propaganda for the benefit of the muslim world, let go if there is enough boodle.

not barred from leaving iran means she leaves then they say: she skipped bail the others can't be trusted. So they hike the bail money for the men.
