#4 She's not really thanking him for shooting her. She's choosing to see the good things that have happened to her subsequently, and attributing it to the happenstance of being where the bad guy's bullets happened to go.

After all, she might have been dead, or brain damaged, or who knows what might have happened when she deployed. Instead she is married to a man she loves, and has found a way to be happy despite being in the middle of a series of painful operations that will leave her body permanently altered from the way it was before, with all that will flow therefrom. Mrs. Roscoe is showing the kind of courage we hope to see in those who put on the uniform, even though her future soldiering will be through her husband. Perhaps after she has been teaching for a while she will learn to express herself clearly and eloquently.

She's just trying to stay positive - surgeries and rehabilitation aren't over yet and frankly may not be as successful as one would hope.
